Haslemere’s women’s first team picked up an impressive 4-1 win at Chichester in South Central Women’s Premier Division Two on Saturday.
Haslemere started the match with the same fiery level of determination and focus they showed in their previous match against South Berkshire.
The visitors dominated, retaining the majority of the possession, and Alice Toynton put Haslemere 1-0 ahead.
Some fine attacking play led to a short corner as the half-time whistle blew. Cleo Buirski secured another short corner, which Hannah Enticknap put away to put the visitors 2-0 up at half-time.
Chichester improved after the break and Haslemere had to defend a number of attacks from the home side. Some good defending by the visitors and a little bit of luck kept the ball out of the goal. Haslemere goalkeeper Jo Burder made some excellent saves, including a diving stick save to prevent Chichester from scoring.
Haslemere went back on the attack, culminating in an excellent finish from Buirski to put the visitors 3-0 ahead.
Chichester’s Beanie Bradley, who played for Haslemere’s first team last season, went on a solo run from the halfway line and scored a fine individual goal to make the score 3-1.
The visitors retained their focus and slick passing. A fine pass into the D from Phoebe Timberlake found Mel Redman and resulted in Toyton’s reverse stick deflection from the shot to make it 4-1.
Haslemere are in seventh place in the league table and are only three points behind the top five teams.
Haslemere’s men’s first team earned a comprehensive 6-0 win at home to Slough in South Central Men’s Premier Division One on Saturday.
The home side led 5-0 at half-time thanks to goals from Andy Powell, Richie Turpin (2), Alfie Richards and Marco van Raalte. Powell was on target after the break to seal the win.
