Haslemere’s women’s first team won 3-1 at home to South Berkshire in South Central Women’s Premier Division Two on Saturday.
The home side started well and had most of the possession in the first half.
The first goal came from an excellent pass from Alice Toynton to Mel Redman, who fired home the opener.
Haslemere continued to pile on the pressure and won a series of short corners, with Cleo Buirski scoring the home team’s second goal with an excellent flick.
South Berkshire stepped up a gear towards the end of the first half and Haslemere conceded a goal, but the home side saw out the rest of the half.
Haslemere were determined to not let the match slip away in the second half.
Cindi Pretorius scored an exceptional goal soon after the break, looping the ball over the South Berkshire keeper with her reverse stick to make it 3-1.
Haslemere worked hard until the end of the match and picked up three much-needed league points.
Haslemere’s women will travel to Chichester on Saturday (3pm).
Haslemere’s men’s first team fell to a 5-4 defeat at South Berkshire in South Central Men’s Premier Division One on Saturday.
The visitors took the lead when Jake Combes reacted quickly to a rebound and lifted the ball high over the South Berkshire keeper.
South Berkshire responded with some direct play and scored two goals to lead 2-1 at half-time.
Short corner goals from Richie Turpin and Andy Powell kept Haslemere in the game in the second half, but the visitors were still 4-3 down.
An accurate crossfield ball found Alfie Richards at the top of the D, and his clean strike made it 4-4.
South Berkshire scored their winner in the last two minutes from a short corner.
Haslemere will host Slough on Saturday (12.15pm).
