There is only one place in Haslemere where people can step from Hogwarts to the future – the library.
But the library doesn’t just offer an escape into books, it is also a place where the community can come together. The library recently hosted a Fun Palace, a free nationwide event where visitors of all ages got involved in craft workshops like beaded bracelet-making and first-time crochet.
Children were encouraged to think about wildlife when making birdseed balls got them thinking about which birds visit their gardens. Pebble painting, willow wand crafting, and ukulele sessions kept families busy, with many spending hours hopping between activities.
Cllr John Robini was blown away, saying, “I’ve never seen the library so full and packed with so many crafts.”
Beyond a day of fun, the event highlighted the library’s other offerings, including a new Lego Club, arts and crafts sessions, a “library of things,” theatre events, and author talks.
