Farnham golfer Lottie Woad sunk the winning putt to seal Europe's 2026 Solheim Cup victory against the USA.

Woad’s 2&1 win over fellow Solheim Cup debutante Auston Kim in Sunday’s singles proved decisive as Europe won 15-13 in the Netherlands to regain the cup.

Farnham’s Woad, who is the number seven ranked female golfer in the world, sunk her winning putt on the 17th green at Bernardus Golf Club to spark wild celebrations from Europe’s players and supporters.

The 22-year-old’s victory took the hosts to 14 points. With Carlota Ciganda three holes up heading on to the 16th, Ciganda was guaranteed at least half a point – which meant Woad’s victory assured Europe of reaching the 14.5 points required to triumph in the biggest team competition in women’s golf.

Farnham Golf Club general manager Ben Beagley was full of pride after Woad delivered for Europe under enormous pressure.

“It is another example of Lottie showing the world what she can do,” said Beagley.

“We had the Solheim Cup on at the club, and it was great for everyone here on Sunday to see Lottie deliver.

“We have so much pride with what Lottie continues to achieve.

“Lottie had played well in her partnership with Charley Hull across the first two days of the Solheim Cup. They made a lot of birdies, so the fact they only won half a point showed the quality of the competition.

“For Lottie to bounce back from that and deliver in the singles shows her resilience.

“I never had any doubt that Lottie would produce what is required.

“As well as her talent, Lottie’s ability to thrive under pressure is what makes her such a good player.

“It was a great day for the club on Sunday, and we look forward to following Lottie’s future successes.”
