Petersfield Town slipped to a 1-0 defeat at home to Wick in the Southern Combination Football League Premier Division.

The Rams nearly took an early lead when Asad Ssemwogerere latched onto a Brandon Miller through ball, but a crucial tackle denied Ssemwogerere the shot.

The hosts went close again on 21 minutes when Kian Towse beat his man and sent a low cross to Harrison Cable, who spun and sent his shot just over the bar.

Rams keeper Ellis Grant made a good low save by his near post, while Cable clipped the crossbar when trying to cross the ball into the area.

Kieran Alcock stung the palms of Wick keeper Keelan Belcher from range, and Cable went close when his header bounced wide.

With 11 minutes to play the visitors took the lead after capitalising on poor defending. A lofted through wasn’t dealt with and Dave Crouch drifted in and slotted past Grant.
