Farnham Town continued their perfect start in the Isthmian League South Central Division with an emphatic 4-0 win at home to previously-unbeaten league leaders Harrow Borough.

Goals from Sam De St Croix and Owen Dean (3) gave Town the three points at The Memorial Ground.

Farnham were quick out of the blocks and created their first clear-cut chance of the afternoon in the sixth minute. Darryl Sanders slipped a ball through to De St Croix, who hit a powerful shot against the Harrow crossbar.

Town went close again on ten minutes when a corner was worked to Max Meaton on the edge of the box, and his shot was well held by visiting keeper Andrew McCorkell.

Farnham continued to look dangerous and went close again in the 13th minute when Harry Cooksley’s corner picked out Jack Dean, who rose highest but headed over the bar.

The opening goal arrived two minutes later, and it had been coming. Sanders played a neat through ball to De St Croix, who took a touch before confidently firing his finish past McCorkell and into the back of the net.

The visitors nearly equalised in the 24th minute when Carl Stewart’s corner hit the Farnham crossbar.

Town continued to push for goals, though, and duly doubled their advantage on the half-hour mark. Adam Liddle received the ball from Sanders and went on a driving run forwards before unselfishly squaring the ball inside to Owen Dean, who confidently curled his right-foot finish into the bottom right-hand corner of the net.

Farnham scored their third of the afternoon on 40 minutes. Meaton’s inviting cross picked out Owen Dean at the back post, and although his close-range header was well saved by McCorkell, Dean eventually scored at the third attempt with a confident finish.

Home keeper Pat Nash was called into action for the first time a minute later, and he did well to get down and hold Dan Williams’ shot.

Town continued to push after the break and Owen Dean’s acrobatic volley in the 50th minute forced a good save from McCorkell.

Farnham scored their fourth of the afternoon two minutes later. Sanders’ low volley was parried away by McCorkell and fell to Owen Dean, who confidently fired his first-time finish into the back of the net to complete his hat-trick.

New signing Great Evans came off the bench and had a good chance to make it 5-0 on 76 minutes, but his effort went just wide of the left-hand post.

Next up for Farnham is a home game against Westfield in the Isthmian League South Central Division on Tuesday, September 17 (7.45pm kick-off).
