Farnham Town set up a trip to League Two Sutton United in the Surrey Senior Cup semi-finals with a comfortable 3-0 win at home to AFC Croydon Athletic.
Goals from Owen Dean, Joe Jackson and Charlie Postance sealed Farnham’s place in the last four.
The home side started brightly and created their first clear-cut chance in the 14th minute when Shamal Edwards’ header at the back post was saved by Croydon keeper Oshane Brown.
Edwards won the home side a penalty on 20 minutes when he drove into the Croydon box and was fouled by Mohamed Konte. Dean made no mistake from the spot, confidently driving his penalty into the bottom right-hand corner to give Farnham the lead.
Town pushed for a second, and Harry Cooksley’s 27th-minute corner picked out Ryan Kinnane – but his powerful header was well held by Brown.
Farnham doubled their advantage on 41 minutes. Dean Rule’s deflected shot was parried by Brown, and Joe Jackson had the simple task of tapping the rebound into an empty net.
Town started the second half well and created a number of chances. Lewis Flatman’s shot was tipped over the bar by Brown, and Dean then nearly scored Farnham’s third when his flicked header from a Cooksley corner was cleared off the line. Flatman went close again when he shot over the bar on 67 minutes. Postance then did well to cut the ball back for Flatman, but his effort went just wide of the far post.
Farnham made it 3-0 in the 75th minute. Edwards’ drilled ball across goal was parried by Brown to Postance, who swept the ball home into the far corner via the inside of the post.
Next up for Farnham is a home game against Balham in the Combined Counties Premier Division South on Saturday (3pm).
