CHAWTON Park Indoor Bowling Club organised its sixth Junior Open Singles Tournament, with 29 bowlers from four Hampshire clubs competing in two age groups, under-12 and under-15.
A round-robin section was followed by semi-finals and finals. The bowling was of a high standard and there were some very close results.
The under-15 winner was Alice Lovett from Loddon Vale, Basingstoke, and runner-up was Reece Graham of the host club. Another Loddon Vale bowler, Martin Mason, was the under-12 winner, with Molly Firth from Victory, Portsmouth, in second place.
Chawton Park coaches and members served as markers and the umpires were Jim and Karen Wood.
Anthea Dore and Beryl Collier ran an impressive scoring system and Brian and Sheila Crow and Brian Scowcroft worked hard in the background.
All competitors received certificates and the finalists were presented with trophies by Maxeen Fletcher, South of England Bowls youth development officer, and Town Mayor Dean Phillips. The tournament was sponsored by Alton Sports Council and Four Marks & Medstead Rotary Club.
