ROWLEDGE Bowling Club were invited to play in the Midhurst Cup competition, run by Midhurst BC, for the first time this year – and emerged the winners.

Clubs from the south coast to north of Midhurst are involved and Rowledge were drawn against The Witterings in the first round, with two triples playing at home and away.

Rowledge won that match and went on to defeat Billingshurst BC. This put them through to the final, played at Midhurst, where they met Pagham BC.

Four triples games were played and Rowledge won the first three, 25-10, 28-18, 21-14 before Pagham took the fourth 18-7. Rowledge were thus overall winners by a convincing 21 points.

The Rowledge teams were: Mehdi Akkouh, Sue Shurmer and Noel Thompson; Peter Ludford, Dave Goddard and Pauline Smith; Aldo Piombini, Grahame Potter and Lizzie Lunn; Peter Slingo, Pat Thompson and Geoff Rose.
