THE Basingstoke & District League President’s Day took place at Alton Bowling Club’s green in the Public Gardens on Sunday.

It was organised by league president James King and B&D clubs taking part were Aldermaston, Alton Social, Howard Park, Kingsclere, Old Basing, Thorneycroft, Whitchurch and Alton.

Thirty-six players bowled in three rinks of fours and two rinks of triples, with Basingstoke & District taking on the ‘Rest of the World’. In front of a large gathering, Basingstoke & District won the day.

The match was followed by a ‘spider’ and finally a hog roast was enjoyed by players and spectators. Profits from the event go to the charity Dementia Friendly Alton.
