A rock band from the 70s is set to perform in Petersfield as part of its latest UK tour.

Wishbone Ash will play at The Festival Hall on Friday, October 25 with singer-songwriter Claire Hamill opening the show.

The Post spoke to Andy Powell, a founding member of Wishbone Ash.

“I don't think you can beat the fun and the excitement of being in a rock band,” Andy said.

“We go to many countries and I love that aspect of being a musician. Boundaries get broken down with music and that's the thing that stops me from getting tired of it.

“This tour we're featuring some songs from the Live Dates II album. We will feature a new song or two and there'll be some classics as well.

“It is very hard for us to not feature some real vintage classics. Especially as we've not played in Petersfield before and they are going to want to hear that.

“We have influenced a lot of bands and a lot of younger audience members come to see us because they have heard about our influence.”

The event will also be a reunion between the band and Claire Hamill, who collaborated with them on songs in the late 70s and early 80s. Andy said he is “looking forward” to seeing her again and describes her as a “wonderful artist”.

Claire said: “They [Wishbone Ash] have written fantastic music and it crosses lots of genres which makes it very interesting. I will be doing a song from almost every album and it will be a sort of folk rock.

“I throw in a comedy song at the end of the show because I can be quite intense in some of my writing.”

The concert will run until 10pm onwards and promises to rock your socks off!
