SHOPPERS have been tickled pink this morning by the sight of Peppa Pig walking around Petersfield town centre.
The character is going walkabout as part of a Children & Young People campaign by the Cancer Research UK (CRUK) Children’s Shop on the High Street.
The charity hopes to raise £200,000 nationally to support its work into treating cancers affecting children and young people, as the sum could pay for a year’s clinical trial.
Staff at the High Street store – one of just two CRUK children’s shops in the country – hope to raise £350 from the appeal.
They certainly helped their cause this morning with Peppa handing out lollies and stickers and town crier, Faye Thompson, crying for shoppers’ attention.
“It’s really important for us to try and raise awareness of cancer in children and young people and to bring a little smile to people’s faces," said store manager, Cora Elliott.
“We do this quite regularly and the kids, teenagers and grandparents love it. We’re always getting photobombed.”
Shoppers can help by taking part in a raffle with the top prize being a £125 family pass at the Taro Centre.
