Around 100 people gathered for a Ukrainian feast at Alton Rugby Club on October 14.

It was a culinary and cultural celebration as well as a fundraiser for two charities in Ukraine, where virtually all Ukrainians living locally have immediate family members.

The evening raised at least £3,500 for the charities, which work directly with thousands of injured and displaced people and pets in Ukraine.

The four courses were cooked in traditional style by a team of Ukrainian women who have come – many with their children – to live with sponsors in and around Alton.
