Police have moved to reassure the public following some intense activity near a Bordon shopping centre.

There were claims armed police were seen near Forest Shopping Centre on Friday evening (March 13) with several marked and unmarked vehicles also in the area.

Hampshire Police have since confirmed they were following up reports of a potential aggravated burglary on Apollo Drive with an emergency call coming through at 7.11pm.

“Officers were deployed to the area and spoke with people inside the address,” said a spokesperson, adding that no injuries have been reported.

“Our investigation into the exact circumstances is ongoing, but we believe this was an isolated incident with no wider threat to the public at this time.”

Police have been seen carrying out patrols in the Apollo Drive, Birch Close and Forest centre area.
