AN East Hampshire community will get some affordable housing and a much-wanted village green if plans for a small estate are rubber stamped.

Plans for eight houses on a 0.57 hectare field next to Steep village hall have been submitted to the South Downs National Park Authority by Nova on behalf of Wilson Designer Homes.

The revised plans for the Church Road site include a quartet of family homes around a simple cul-de-sac and a block of almshouses facing a green.

The “sympathetic” development opposite the Mill Lane junction also represents a “huge and possibly unique opportunity” to “create a village centre with a green in the heart” of Steep according to supporters.
