The time for talking is nearly over: Now it’s time to walk the walk in one of Petersfield’s biggest charity events of the year.

Blue will be the colour in town this Sunday as dozens of fundraisers will gather in The Square for the 2026 March for Men with Kev.

And it looks like the fourth annual walk in memory of decorator and Leeds United fan Kevan Birkett will be the biggest yet, with organisers hopeful of seeing more than 350 people at the starting line.

Many readers will be familiar with Kevan’s story, as he devoted his final months to raising awareness of the importance of prostate cancer testing and symptoms before passing away in May 2023.

The first March for Men with Kev in aid of Prostate Cancer UK, PCaSO and The Rosemary Foundation was held the following September, with the event gaining in popularity every year.

Organisers say they’re on track for “their biggest and best march yet” with registrations still welcome for the 2.5k, 5km or 10km circular routes around town.

Registration is a bargain at just £5 to include a free Prostate Cancer UK t-shirt, while it doesn’t cost a penny for children or dogs to take part.

A spokesperson said: “It’s a lovely flat route and every single person who joins the walk will help to raise awareness of prostate cancer and continue Kev’s legacy.

“So bring your family, friends and workmates – help make this the biggest March for Men With Kev yet.

“Together we can raise awareness, encourage early diagnosis and help save lives.”

The walk will begin at 10.45am but organisers will hold a “meet and greet” from 10am with stalls, talks and a warm-up beforehand. Registration can be made through www.marchformenwithkev.co.uk
