Lord Wandsworth College’s GCSE year group won the national under-16 girls’ hockey championship, are county rugby champions in both the 15-a-side and seven-a-side versions of the game, and reached the last 16 of the national under-18 girls’ cricket Hundred competition.
Away from the sports field they have also produced some exceptional GCSE exam results this year, well ahead of 2019 levels. Seventeen per cent of papers achieved the top grade 9, 55 per cent earned grades 9 to 7, 88 per cent were marked between grades 9 and 5 and there was a 98 per cent pass rate.
Particular congratulations go to Ned B and Amelia R for achieving straight grade 9s in all ten of their subjects, and to Anya Burrows (nine grade 9s), Flo Coughlin and George Morris (eight grade 9s) and Sam Fussey (six grade 9s).
At the top of the school’s results table this year were computer science, English and the creative subjects of art, drama and music.
