Musical Return To The Forbidden Planet will be performed by the Grayshott Stagers at Grayshott Village Hall from tonight (Wednesday) to Saturday at 7.30pm.
This fabulously quirky show by Bob Carlton won the Olivier Award for Best New Musical for 1989 and 1990, and brings together three exciting elements that are strong individually but combined become quite incredible.
First there are rock ’n’ roll classics from the 1950s and 1960s that are sure to get the audience’s toes tapping and get them bopping along. From Great Balls Of Fire to Good Vibrations, Gloria, She’s Not There, It’s A Man’s World and so many more, this show is packed with fantastic songs.
Then there is the plot, based on The Tempest by William Shakespeare and often billed as ‘Shakespeare’s forgotten rock ’n’ roll masterpiece’, and a script which takes Shakespearean language and twists well known quotes in knots.
And all of this takes place in a classic science fiction setting. Join the GSS Albatross spaceship crew as they travel to a strange new world, meet a mad scientist and their robot creation, and try to survive a meteor storm and attacks from a mysterious tentacled monster.
There will be comedy, excitement and romance, and the entertainment will be out of this world.
