SUCH was the success of the Herald’s recent competition to win a Barbecue to You bundle of Hogs Back Brewery beer, Alf Turner Butcher meat and Good Taste bakery bread delivered to your door, that the brewery agreed to award two runners-up prizes too.
And the feel-good factor doesn’t end there, as one of those runners-up, Jack Vincent, decided to pay the Hogs Back’s gesture forward and donate £50 to the Farnham Coronavirus Support Fund, offering small grants to those struggling to cope under lockdown.
Jack, from Farnham, said: “I’d like to ‘pay it forward’ and donate the beer in cash to The Farnham Coronavirus Support Fund, coordinated by Farnham Lions, so have just made a donation of £50 to their JustGiving page.
“Thank you for keeping our local slice of loveliness, The Herald, going through these challenging times.”
Rupert Thompson, the Hogs Back Brewery owner, said: “We’re delighted the competition offering our Barbecue to You service of beer, bread and meat was so popular. Clearly, a lot of people are planning a locally-sourced barbecue during lockdown.
“As a result of the huge demand, we’re adding two runner-up prizes of a PET of freshly-brewed TEA and a case of TEA, delivered to the winners’ homes.”
Corinne Dingle, from Oakhanger, took the top prize, while Jack Vincent and Daniel Taylor were both runners-up.
Hogs Back Brewery’s new Barbecue to You service allows customers buying beer online at www.hogsback.co.uk to also buy bread, meat and wine – the latter courtesy of wine supplier Nectar Imports.
Home delivery is though limited to selected postcodes: GU1 to GU24, or starting with GU34, GU35, GU46, GU47, GU51, GU52, GU95 or RG27, RG29.
