Haslemere Town Council was shocked to discover car parking charges will soon be on the rise across town as Waverley Borough Council (WBC) had not informed it of the proposed increases.

The council said: “It is disappointing that Waverley did not share this information, which has the potential to impact residents and businesses in the town, with the town council. We are working with our colleagues at WBC to try to ensure better communication in the future.” 

Users of the High Street car park will be paying on average 18 per cent more than they pay now. Shoppers will be forking out more change for every hour, with one hour charges rising from £1.10 to £1.30, two hours from £2.20 to £2.60, and three hours from £3.60 to £4.30.
