Former EastEnders and Bad Girls actress and Waverley councillor, Kika Mirylees, has teased that Farnham's new REEL Cinema could host gaming competitions – cashing in on the region's booming gaming sector.
Cllr Mirylees says REEL is keen to use Farnham’s glittering new cultural venue for more than just film screenings, and could offer the perfect opportunity to “get gamers out of their bedrooms”.
The Farnham and Waverley councillor made her remarks during a Champagne reception to open Farnham's new REEL Cinema, attended by the great and good of Farnham on Wednesday, January 31.
Surrey is home to more than 60 game studios who are responsible for some of the most iconic characters and over 4,000 games made in Surrey, according to Invest in Surrey.
Companies such as EA Games, Ubisoft and Supermassive Games have made Surrey a hotspot for the gaming sector.
