Members of the armed forces went into Bordon Infant School last Friday to teach young pupils a lesson.

Year 2 pupils learned about jobs within the military after starting with a special Remembrance Day assembly.

Two visitors from RAF Odiham and parents who work in the Army led a series of activities to give children an idea of the jobs and roles in the armed forces.

Their fitness was put to the test in the PT session while young engineers worked in teams to build a lookout tower with spaghetti and marshmallows.

They also tested some Army kit and helmets and tried to hold a parachute during a fun morning full of insight.

“The children had a lot of fun and were amazed at seeing ‘live soldiers’ in their school,” said Anne-Marie Kennedy, assistant headteacher.

She added: “We feel it is really important we keep informing the children about Remembrance Day but we also wanted to link it to the military today.”
