FAT China, a new exhibition showcasing the spirit of independent artists in China, opens at the University for the Creative Arts (UCA) in Farnham on Thursday.
Curated by Dr Ang Gao, lecturer in directing at UCA, in association with the Chinese Independent Film Archive (CIFA), the exhibition will display a range of thought-provoking artistic works in film, art and theatre (FAT) from China.
Featuring drawings by fine artists Ren Zhijun, film posters by visual artist Wang Wo and a documentary by filmmaker Wu Wenguang, it will give the audience a glimpse into the country’s creativity from the 1980s onwards.
The launch event on February 8 will be followed by a Lunar New Year celebration, including traditional Chinese performances such as calligraphy, paper cutting, and Kung Fu.
A schedule of accompanying events will take place throughout the exhibition, including free-to-attend film screenings every Friday at the cinema at UCA.
FAT China runs until March 9, open from 9am to 5.15pm daily in the UCA Foyer Gallery. Free entry.
