WOOLMER Hill School is celebrating its continued rating of “good”, following its latest Ofsted inspection last month.

‘Effective teaching’ was seen by the inspectors in a range of subjects at the school, which is now part of the Weydon Multi Academy Trust.

The report concluded: “Teachers demonstrate a passion for their subjects and pupils’ attitudes to their learning are overwhelmingly positive.

“Teachers ask questions which make pupils think hard and work is well-pitched to provide the right levels of challenge and support.”

Inspectors reported headteacher Clare Talbot provided strong and effective leadership and her leadership style has gained the support of staff, parents and carers, pupils and governors.

“The atmosphere in your school is one of calm purpose and enjoyment of learning,” they stated.

Welcoming the report, Miss Talbot said: “The Ofsted inspectors were able to see what we see on a daily basis, which is exemplary behaviour from our pupils and a wonderful atmosphere which cares and supports, whilst challenging pupils to make good progress.

“During the day, the inspectors described our pupils as delightful, and we would wholeheartedly agree with this. The inspection team recognised that safeguarding is a real strength of this school, and it is key to underpinning everything the school does.

“The school will be full in year seven in September 2018 for the first time in several years, and this is a great endorsement from the local community and fantastic news for all staff associated with the school.

“The school looks forward to going from strength to strength and everyone associated with the school should be exceptionally proud of what we have already achieved.”
