Despite rumours that Waverley Borough Council (WBC) will be taking on a short term lease for The Edge, there is still nothing concrete for clubs or people in Haslemere to get excited about. 

At WBC’s overview and scrutiny committee meeting, Cllr Ian Doyle said that while there have been talks with Surrey County Council, “at no time has anybody discussed taking back the lease”.

Cllr Carole Cockburn, chair of the overview committee, said: “We’ve really got to get it right because it’s so important to the community. 

“I don’t think I have ever been inundated with quite so many phone calls and emails on a community matter in an area where I don’t live.”
