THE motorcyclist who died in a crash on Blacknest Road, near Binsted, on May 22 has been named.

Paul Hoffman, 52, from Ash in Surrey, died at the scene, which occurred opposite The Jolly Farmer pub.

The incident happened around 8.50pm when Mr Hoffman was thought to have braked heavily as he travelled south-east along the road and came off his black Harley Davidson Softail bike. It is believed a second motorcyclist, on a similar bike, was using that stretch of road at the same time.

A 50-year-old Camberley man has been arrested in connection with the accident and has been released on bail until September 6.

Police would like to speak to anyone who saw the crash, or two motorcycles near the area where the crash happened, between around 8.40pm and 8.50pm on May 22. Call Havant police on 101, quoting Operation Date.
