A Whitehill man who was found narrowly over the drug-drive limit has been handed a hefty ban by a Surrey court.

Guildford Magistrates Court heard that Gabriel Petkov tested positive for Delta-9 THC, the active ingredient in cannabis, after his Honda Jazz was stopped by police in Ash Vale on January 5.

The 26-year-old of Bracken Lane gave a reading of 2.3 micograms of analyte per litre of blood, with 2 being the legal limit.

Petkov was disqualified from driving for 36 months and ordered to carry out 100 hours of unpaid work by the court. He must also pay £85 costs and a £114 surcharge with magistrates taking his guilty plea into account during the September 1 hearing.
