A councillor has expressed concerns with firefighting coverage in an East Hampshire town after a crew from Liphook stood in.
Mike Steevens told a Whitehill Town Council committee that Bordon firefighters have struggled to deal with fires involving a school bus and hedge in recent weeks.
And with the risk of heathland and wildfires rising, he highlighted the need for more firefighters at the Conde Way station.
“They’re volunteers at Bordon and it takes six months to train someone,” said Cllr Steevens to the Executive Committee.
“I know they had a bit of a recruitment drive the other week but it doesn’t happen overnight.
“We’ve also got no military cover now, like we used to, so it’s a bit of a worry.”
