A long-serving volunteer who organises film nights at a community centre in Liss has been given a village ‘Oscar’.

Triangle Centre stalwart Chris Dowty was named Villager of the Year 2026 when Liss held its Annual Parish Meeting.

Mr Dowty also received the award in recognition for his support and dedication to Lupin and Petersfield Golf Club with Triangle manager, Karen Feeney, nominating the “nicest man in the world”.

She said: “He would do anything for anybody and he has done so much work for the Triangle since it opened.

“He’s just brilliant and nothing is too much trouble.”

Chris was picked ahead of five equally amazing villagers with Nigel Drury, Alan Harris, Bridget Hughes, Cliff Salmons and Dave Scarlett also being shortlisted.
