HOPE is growing at the Petersfield Community Garden that funding can be secured for a new shelter.

Supporters need £26,000 to build a traditional wood-framed community eco-shelter with a green roof to complement their social shed.

The target is well in sight as they’ve received £10,000 from a charity linked to the South Downs National Park Authority to go with £4,000 of their own cash.

Sue Edberg, the community garden chairman, says it’s “really positive” the Sustainable Communities Fund has awarded funding. 

She added: “All the wood will be sourced from the national park, local skilled builders will create it and it will be available for allotment users.”
