Zeba Imam has won the New Ashgate Gallery Rising Stars Award 2022.

Her ceramics are inspired by the marks of human activity all around – bustling cityscapes, old and new jostling for space, time-worn aspects of an industrial building, casual graffiti: all conveying the universal human wish to be seen and to communicate.

Runner-up was Pratibha Mistry for her beautiful, organic forms in glass.

Zeba also received £1,000, the same as Jana Griffiths from Farnham, who won the 29th annual British Art Medal Society Student Medal Project competition by creating a two-sided relief artwork using lost-wax casting techniques. Medals were created by UK and German art students.
