Alton Town Council said it is “extremely proud” of how Alton’s Walking Festival has developed over the last 11 years.
This year there were more than 100 walks covering in excess of 600 miles, with more than 1,800 places taken up on the available walks and hundreds of people signing up to take on multiple excursions.
A spokesperson said: “The festival hosted a wide variety of experiences. From humble beginnings as a modest weekend event, to the extensive month-long programme which is now firmly established in the calendar as one of the best in the country, this year’s festival throughout May and part of National Walking Month was triumphant.”
