A woman has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a little girl who was rescued from a pond died.
Hampshire Police this evening confirmed the news that the two-year-old, who had been described as "unresponsive" when she was found in Kingsley Pond, had died.
Officers are now appealing for anyone with information about the incident, or who may have seen the little girl in the moments leading up to her discovery, to get in touch.
A woman, aged in her 40s, has been arrested on suspicion of murder. She is currently in police custody.
Police were called at 5.02pm yesterday, Sunday, to a report a two-year-old girl had gone missing from her home on Forge Road, Kingsley, Bordon.
She was found a short time later in Kingsley Pond.
A police spokesman said: "She was taken to hospital in a serious condition but sadly died this afternoon. Her family are being supported by officers.
"Officers are working to establish exactly what happened and are keen to speak to anyone who was in the area of Kingsley Pond yesterday, prior to the incident."
Officers will be in the area tomorrow, and people are encouraged to approach them if they have any concerns or any information.
