A 64-YEAR-OLD man died in a fire at a block of flats in The Buntings, near Weydon School, in the early hours of Monday.
Neighbours called 999 at 4.41am on July 13 after seeing smoke coming from an upstairs window of a terraced block of flats.
Fire crews arrived within ten minutes, and entered the home, extinguishing a fire in a bathroom.
However, they also discovered the body of the man.
Surrey Fire and Rescue Service confirmed investigations are taking place alongside the police.
A spokesperson for Surrey Fire and Rescue Service said: “We received a call on Monday morning around 4.40am to a report of a fire at The Buntings, Farnham.
“Three fire engines were sent, the first of which arrived at the scene around 4.50am. A domestic dwelling fire caused approximately 51 to 100 sqm damage.
“The fire was tackled and crews left the scene around 7am.
“This incident highlights the importance of having a working smoke alarm, and we urge all residents to check regularly that their alarm is working, and to be prepared with a fire escape plan.
