A child’s electric motorcycle was the likely cause of a recent house fire in Petersfield.

Crews from Petersfield and Havant were called to a house on Bramble Road around 5.30pm on Bank Holiday Sunday after a fire broke out in the living room.

A spokesperson for Hampshire Fire & Rescue said: “Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus extinguished the blaze using hose reel jets.

“The stop message was received at 6pm, and firefighters then returned to their stations.”

The spokesperson added: “The fire is believed to have been caused by a child’s electric motorcycle.”

There has been a huge spike nationally in similar fires across the UK over the last year, with HFRS being called to seven e-bike fires and eight e-scooter fires in 2025.
